Abstract

Electric vehicles (EVs) are growing in popularity caused by price drops or environmental consciousness. In the electric vehicles, motors play an important role because it provides power to rotate the wheels. In the literature, motors are classified into two types such as ac and dc motors. In this paper, we have studied and analyzed various motors are deployed for electric vehicles. From the study, we found that switched reluctance motor that comes under ac motors are most preferred in electric vehicles due to less maintenance cost. However, the SRM motor performance varies due to torque ripple, low power density, and low power factor. Therefore, we have studied and analyzed various methods to overcome these challenges in related work. In the last, we have defined the open research challenges based on the existing study
