The city of Hyderabad is believed to be the Lake City of India because of the many lakes around the twin cities. Over the years, however, unplanned urbanisation largely coupled with the proliferation of industries has propagated water quality deterioration in the lakes of Hyderabad. This study has focused on an assessment of the water quality of the Himayat Sagar lake The impact of the water quality of the lake was examined by duly collecting data over a six year period (2016 - 2022) and analysed some of the significant water quality parameters. Some of the parameters used were DO, pH, Conductivity, BOD, Nitrates, Total coliforms, Fecal coliforms COD, Chlorides, sulfates, TDS, Sodium, Calcium, Magnesium, Alkalinity, and hardness. In total there were 17 Parameters that were investigated that also included the 2 micrbiological pathogens. It was clear that the quality of the water in the Lake was rated as unsatisfactory (Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Standards for Potable Water (IS -10500: 2012) for consumption. The studies have established that there is enough pollution in the lake for the meagre prevention of aquatic organisms. This study would aid the Government and provide them options and strategic practices to reduce pollution; BasicAdditional Files
