MATLAB Implementation of an Efficient Technique for Detection of Brain Tumor by using Watershed Segmentation and Morphological Operation

Medical imaging is placing a major role in diagnosing the diseases and in image guided surgery. There are various imaging modalities for different applications giving the anatomical and physiological conditions of the patient. Magnetic Resonance Image (MRI) are used to analyze the human organs with out surgery. Detection of the tumor is the main objective of the system. Detection plays a critical role in biomedical imaging .Brain image segmentation is one of the most important tools and hence need by the clinicians. How ever an accurate segmentation is a significant task and crucial for exact diagnosis. In this paper, MRI brain image is used to tumor detection process. This system includes test the brain image process, image filtering, skull stripping, segmentation by using OTSU and watershed , morphological operation, calculation of the tumor area and determination of the tumor location.
